Personal Life
I was born and raised in Gainesville, FL. I was homeschooled until 9th grade, and I loved reading, English, history, science - basically all academic subjects except math! Math was the subject that most scared and frustrated me. I also studied dance (mainly ballet, pointe, modern, and jazz), and voice and piano. Early on, I had a passion for performing and the arts.
Beginning in 9th grade, I started attending Buchholz High School and (with some trepidation) joined their math team. It was here that I gained confidence in mathematics and wanted to share that confidence with others. I wanted to give students a positive experience of mathematics, and teach them skills that would benefit them for the rest of their lives. This passion has followed me throughout my high school and college career. I am married to a wonderful man who loves family above all else. We are blessed to spend each and every day together, hand in hand. Jeramiah is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama, and together we have fun helping each other become better teachers. My favorite pastimes include music, reading, and origami. I love to sing and play the organ, and nothing beats curling up in bed with a good mystery novel! I am fascinated by origami - especially 3D origami. 3D origami is a type of modular origami that uses hundreds, sometimes thousands of units to create each sculpture.
